Remote Tuner Overview

Introduction

The mAT-1500R is a high-power automatic antenna tuner with a maximum input power of 1500 W (SSB). It operates over the 1.8–30 MHz amateur HF bands and is powered through the feedline. When using it, no additional control or power cables are required. It must be used together with a Bias-Tee, such as the mAT-4117 or another compatible model. This single-cable solution simplifies installation and allows remote placement of the tuner near the antenna.

Two antenna connectors

The tuner provides two antenna connections: a Coaxial Antenna Connector (SO-239) and a Wire Antenna Terminal. Either a coaxial-fed antenna or a wire antenna can be connected.

Important Note

The tuner can handle up to 1500 W (SSB) RF input power. RF power higher than this may permanently damage the tuner. During tuning, the RF input power must not be higher than 50 W. If the RF power is too high while the tuner is tuning, the tuning may fail or the tuner may be damaged. If you are using a high-power linear amplifier, be sure to put the amplifier in STBY (Standby) before starting the tuning process.

Installing

The tuner has limited water resistance. When installing the tuner, always keep the side with the cable connectors facing downward and parallel to the ground. This can help prevent rainwater from entering the tuner through the gaps.

The mAT-1500R provides two antenna interfaces: a Coaxial Antenna Connector (SO-239) and a Wire Antenna Terminal. Connect a 50 Ω coaxial-fed antenna to the Coaxial Antenna Connector (SO-239), or connect a single-wire antenna directly to the Wire Antenna Terminal. With its wide impedance matching range, the tuner is compatible with a broad variety of HF antennas, including coaxial-fed and wire antennas.

mAT-4117
Bias-Tee

The mAT-1500R must be used with a Bias-Tee. The mAT-4117 Bias-Tee shown above is available separately. If you already have a compatible Bias-Tee, you only need to purchase the tuner.
The Bias-Tee must meet the following requirements:
Maximum RF power: 1500 W
DC output: 12–14 V, minimum 1 A
Operating frequency range: 1.8–30 MHz
